American telecommunications companies are awful.
Just before Christmas, my IPhone 4S was stolen, prompting me to buy a new unlocked IPhone 5 to replace it. At the time, I thought that I could just bring my new phone to LA and sign up with any carrier as a pay as you go customer — the same as in Canada. Apparently not. Apparently American Telecommunications carriers all run on different bandwidths making unlocked phones incompatible and me nuts!
My only hope as an international student with no social security number (meaning cant sign up for a contract plan) is for me to sign up with no use or very slow/little use of my phones 4G/3G/LTE capabilities.
Every single day for the last four days, I have woken up with the determination to settle my phone problem but by the end of each day I have been left with feelings of defeat and exhaustion.
America, you have defeated me.
